An ever-expanding network of off-road and urban cycle trails now criss-cross their way across our region, providing exceptional views and a faster, greener way to move around our main centres.

Biking has never been more popular and new routes are being developed all the time including gravel pathways, timber boardwalks, wide sealed footpaths and dedicated cycleways that are separated from vehicle traffic. No matter what your age or fitness level, there are plenty of suitable trails to choose from.

Ōmokoroa’s 19km coastal Cycle Trail now links the coastal peninsula township with Tauranga and is a great day out. Guided E-bike tours are available on this route where you can learn about the region’s culturally significant spots while cruising around on two wheels and enjoying the harbour views and lush countryside. Tauranga’s Kopurererua Valley Reserve is another popular track through one of Australasia’s largest urban wetlands. It features a fantastic cycleway between The Lakes in Tauriko and the Historic Village on 17th Ave.

Thrill-seekers should head to Oropi Grove Mountain Bike Park, TECT All Terrain Park or Summerhill Recreation Farm to ride the best mountain bike tracks in the region.
