WELCOME TO ŌHOPE BEACH
You’ll know as soon as you get to Ōhope Beach why it’s been voted New Zealand’s most-loved beach by AA Traveller (and not just once, might we add!). This laidback little beach town oozes Kiwiana; the white sandy beach lined with majestic pōhutukawa trees, quaint shops and an unmistakable holiday vibe - it’s relaxing just writing about it!
Ōhope Beach is located just 10-minutes over the hill from Whakatāne, so while it feels like an isolated beach holiday destination, you’re still super close to all the amenities of a bigger town. It’s a long, 14-kilometre stretch of beach on one side, and a calm harbour on the other. The beach has some great surf but is also super safe for families with young children and is patrolled by the surf lifesaving club during the busy months.
