Creative Bay of Plenty

Creative Bay of Plenty was founded over fifty years ago, and ever since, we have evolved and responded to the creative needs and aspirations of the Tauranga and the Western Bay community. Today, in partnership with our two local Councils and the support of regional and national funders, we serve as the region’s umbrella organisation for arts, culture, and heritage, providing connections, capability building, resources (funding, information, and technical support), and promotion of creative events and opportunities. We work closely with local government, schools and educators, iwi, other non-profits and umbrella organisations, funders and the private sector to ensure a vibrant, expressive, and diverse sense of creative community—and to enhance quality of life through the arts. We consider our vision and mission to be essential for a healthy city and region—with arts, culture and heritage seen as a driver of social cohesion and community wellbeing.
