We want our region and activities to be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of their physical or intellectual limitations, disabilities or age. That’s why we specifically highlight experiences that are accessible to all.

Te Moananui ā Toi ׀ Coastal Bay of Plenty is famous for its white sand beaches, and a growing number of beach wheelchairs, beach mats, and wheelchair-friendly picnic tables are now available in both the Western and Eastern Bay of Plenty. Adaptive learn to surf lessons are on offer along with extra support for those who want to kayak, SUP, snorkel or swim.

Wheelchairs are also no barrier to our region’s glorious walking tracks. It’s now even possible to reach the summit of Mauao (Mount Maunganui) and impress the socks off everyone you meet along the way!

A custom-designed $2.4m launch will get you out on the water for a memorable day’s fishing, wheelchair and all, while sailing opportunities are also available for anyone with a disability.
