This tour travels south to Rotorua. Our principal venue is Te Puia Maori Cultural Centre, which has extensive thermal grounds & authentic Maori culture. Returning to Tauranga, we visit a working kiwifruit orchard.
After arrival in Rotorua, we proceed to to Te Puia, the Maori Cultural Centre. Clients are given a personalised tour of the old pa site, through the thermal grounds (of boiling mud and geysers) and shown the wood-carving school, flax-weaving and the kiwi bird. This is followed by a Maori Welcome onto the marae, before entering a meeting house for a performance by a Maori concert party.
We travel through Rotorua's CBD, where lunch is purchased (at client's cost) in Eat Street. After lunch we travel along the lakefront, through the Government Gardens, stopping at the Rotorua Museum, the Historic Bath-house, to explain the background of this fine old building. Returning to Tauranga via a different route, we visit a working kiwifruit orchard.
