Gemma McCaw nee Flynn

Gemma is a Bay of Plenty girl at heart.

The former Tauranga Girls’ College student has been a member of the New Zealand women’s hockey team, the Black Sticks, since 2008, going on to become an integral part during a number of Olympic and Commonwealth Games campaigns.

Co-founder of The 100% Project, a program designed to help people live life to their full mental and physical potential, Gemma brings her passion for health, wellbeing, and fitness into all aspects of her own life.

Gemma lives between Tauranga and Christchurch and when she’s back in the Bay you can usually spot her running up Mauao at the crack of dawn, trekking through Papamoa Hills Regional Park, or where possible she loves to get out on the water for a spot of fishing.

“I love the relaxed atmosphere, that real community feel and spirit. You can go for a run up the Mount and people are so friendly, saying ‘Good morning’ or ‘Good afternoon’. When I’m away, I miss that – everyone has a really positive outlook on life and there is a really relaxed vibe.”
