Robert Harris in the CBD is understated, yet just close enough to or offices that we can pop by for an early morning pick-me-up. Each time, the owner/manager greets us with a welcoming smile, even though we often pop in so early that the machine is still warming up! Lovely coffee and good service!
Avoid this place at all costs! Went in today at about 3.30pm and asked the person on duty for a smoothie. She seemed distracted but agreed and quickly(!) took my money. She then proceeded to serve another couple of people she seemed to know. This went on for quarter of an hour and I called out to her "where's my smoothie?" and she just kept on gasbagging and stared at me. Another worker asked what was wrong and I told her. She started to fix the smoothie but I said I had to catch a bus and just wanted my $$ back which the other worker gave me. My original server finally wandered over to ask what was wrong and said "I was going to fix it". Bully for her. I told her she needed to sharpen up her act and she stared me down. Mr/Ms Manager take my advice. Not happy and would be a long time before I return.
We stopped in for breakfast this week and found Robert Harris Tauranga to be disappointing. The decor is great but as it's the centre of the CBD parking is a problem. We arrived just after 8am but had to top up the parking meter as it took an hour for a single bacon and eggs breakfast to arrive. The coffee arrived within a reasonable time frame but the cups were long empty before the food arrived. when the food did arrive it was of reasonable quality. The staff seemed disinterested and barely made eye contact when interacting with us. We will give them one more try in case this was post Christmas Day ennui. 3/10 for the overall experience.
