If you are visiting Tauranga and have restricted mobility, let Driving Miss Daisy take you on a private tour of the beautiful Bay of Plenty. As well as the beaches and cafe culture of Tauranga, many visitors like to go a little further afield and enjoy and unforgettable day trip to the geysers and cultural sights of Rotorua or the magic of Hobbiton. Both are around an hour's drive from Tauranga, so we recommend allowing between 4 and 7 hours for your tour, but wherever you choose to go, the itinerary on the day is totally up to you.
Our friendly drivers are very experienced in working with people in wheelchairs and are happy to accompany you on your tour to provide whatever assistance is needed.
Our vehicles can take wheelchairs and mobility scooters of varying sizes, or, if you are ambulant but worried about the amount of walking around the sights, we can provide a wheelchair for you to use. Please ask if there is somewhere you particularly want to visit but aren't sure about accessibility, we can check that for you in advance.
With four wheelchair accessible cars in our fleet, we are sure to have a vehicle suitable for your particular needs. For example, the Estima has a swing out front seat which you may find more comfortable if you are able to transfer; the Kangoo has good headroom and great visibility with the wheelchair positioned just behind the driver and a passenger seat alongside, so is much friendlier than a typical wheelchair accessible vehicle; the Hiace can take a wheelchair and a mobility scooter plus 5 passengers, so is ideal for larger groups.
