Study in the Bay of Plenty
For more than 25 years, students from all over the world have chosen to study in the heart of one of New Zealand’s most beautiful and productive regions; the Bay of Plenty.
The Bay of Plenty Tertiary Education Partnership is leading the way in terms of innovative tertiary delivery to meet the ever changing education and research needs of students, business and the community. The University of Waikato is ranked top in New Zealand and seventh in the Southern Hemisphere of the top 100 universities under 50 years old by UK-based Times Higher Education. With its main campus located in Hamilton, the university has strong links with its locally based partners delivering a growing number of degree and post-graduate qualifications in Tauranga.
The Bay of Plenty Polytechnic is a leading public regional institute of technology. The Polytechnic offers trades training and research with a focus on specialisations aligned to regional strengths in horticulture, transport and logistics, marine and aquaculture. Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi is an internationally respected indigenous-university with a range of qualifications, from community education programmes to Certificates and Diplomas, and on to Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees.
The institutions work together to provide a high quality, inclusive tertiary experience at the forefront of post-secondary education and research in New Zealand.
New Tauranga Campus
A significant next step in the development of this unique tertiary partnership is to establish a modern base in Tauranga from which degree and post-graduate qualifications and regional research partnerships can be developed. The new campus will provide a university campus experience to students in the Bay of Plenty. There will be a particular emphasis on science and technology innovation and entrepreneurship to support the further development of industry aligned research activity in the region.
The three institutions in the Partnership offer a wide variety of study options and provide opportunities to work seamlessly between the organisations.
