Family Fun

There is a great selection of family activities in the Bay of Plenty.  Many bay of Plenty attractions offer family passes or discounted passes for children.  Below is a selection of some of the great family adeventures in the Bay of Plenty!

Waimarino Adventure Park

Classic Flyers Aviation Museum

 Step back in time when you visit Classic Flyers aviation museum in Mount Maunganui.  The museum features a large display of classic an image aircraft with an emphasis on New Zealand aviation.  Other items on display include aircraft engines, field artillery, cannons and machine guns, and World War II vehicles.

Mount Maunganui Hot Salt Water Pools

an image Situated at the base of Mauao are the Mount Maunganui Hot Salt Water Pools, the country’s only geothermally-heated hot salt water pools.  The complex features several spa pools; two larger pools plus and a children’s play area.

Free Family Activities in the Bay of Plenty

  • Fish off Salisbury Wharf or the Bridge Marina.
  • Pack a picnic and head to Papamoa Hills Regional Park for the afternoon.
  • Take a walk around the Mount’s basetrack or head to the top for a truly breathtaking view.
  • Walk to the end of leisure island, see if the blowhole is working and look for seals.
  • Visit McLaren's Falls park, if it's a Sunday the waterfall might be running.
