One of New Zealand's most prolific and successful playwrights, Roger Hall QNZM QSO has written more than 35 plays, musicals and pantomimes, plus 70 or so TV sitcom episodes. Luckily most of these have been successful. But not all. Several have failed for all sorts of reasons - such are the vagaries of getting a play on.
Naturally, these are the 'ones' that you don’t know about.
There was the one that had a big British star in it, but failed to transfer to the West End; the one that was going to be his big breakthrough in the USA, but wasn’t; two that he was in love with, but audiences didn’t reciprocate; and a recent play that got off to such a bad start on opening night, the season had to be shortened.
Roger's talk is frank, honest, and often very funny.
Following a sold-out talk at Otago Settlers Museum in Dunedin earlier this year, this is only the third time he’s presented his talk 'The Ones That Got Away' in New Zealand.
All proceeds to go to the Roger Hall Theatre Endowment Trust.
