The festival is paradoxical in its nature not only by bringing street art into a gallery but also by internationally acclaimed artists turning the city into an outdoor gallery.
Paradox: Tauranga Street Art Festival is being developed by Tauranga City Council in partnership with Oi you! and Tauranga Art Gallery and runs until 15 June.
The festival has the Oi You! Collection including the most extensive assembly of Banksy works in the Southern Hemisphere on display at Tauranga Art Gallery. Buildings across the city have been brought to life with giant artworks created especially for Paradox, featuring New Zealand and international artists, complemented by works by local artists and events featuring food, film, music and painting.
Tauranga Art Gallery breaks all the rules of the gallery space for Paradox Inside, creating a major, ground-breaking exhibition. The festival features the Oi You! Collection including the most extensive assembly of the works of the acclaimed street artist Banksy, in the Southern Hemisphere. This is the first time the comprehensive Oi You!
Collection is being exhibited in the North Island of New Zealand. The collection features works by well-known and infamous personalities such as Banksy, Faile, Paul Insect, Swoon and Anthony Micallef.
Every space in the Tauranga Art Gallery has been dedicated to Paradox. Seven internationally acclaimed artists created bespoke works within the Tauranga Art Gallery to complement the Oi You! Collection of iconic street art.
Our collective of six international and local street artists left a remarkable legacy in their natural habitat, the streets. A series of works graces iconic walls of Tauranga for all to enjoy for years to come.
Tauranga is home to a large group of renowned street artists. Paradox Live & Local showcases the work of our local artists and encourages interaction from across the community, bringing everyone together with events including public wall paintings, food, music and dance.
