Bay of Plenty Symphonia presents a delightful concert of operatic arias, orchestral overtures and interludes.
The well-known guest soloists are mezzo-soprano Elisha Hulton and bass-baritone Chalium Poppy. Both have made their mark in many musical activities around the Bay and further afield: The audience will be treated to solo operatic arias and duets from these two wonderful singers, accompanied by the Bay’s community orchestra. The programme will include some firm favourites by Verdi and Mozart as well as plenty of equally memorable pieces by Mussorgsky, Saint Saens and others.
The orchestra’s instrumental extracts include Offenbach’s famous barcarolle and the intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana. A variety of other orchestral items, ranging from Gluck to Philip Glass (18th to 20th Century) will culminate in the grand triumphal march from Verdi’s Aida.
The concert will be conducted by Justus Rozemond, who is celebrating five years as Music Director of the Symphonia.
