Jo Wilson, a mixed-media artist from Hawkes Bay with a diverse style of artwork, which defies any categorization.

Jo's Solo exhibition "Diversity" with an original work of her famous dolls and couple pieces of mixed media/resin work. Open Tuesdays-Fridays, 11am-5pm and until 4pm on Saturdays.

“Having the freedom to paint intuitively is a unique attribute for me.”

Jo's span across the genres of contemporary, abstract and surrealist art, utilising vibrant colours and innovative textures. Jo is a self-taught artist and she enjoys the freedom to paint whatever, however with no boundaries to work by. Her art is unique in style, not having to explain or interpret them, leaving the judgment in the eye of the beholder and works predominately in acrylics. She aims to create rich vibrant works with a diverse range of subjects.

Jo sees her art as a creative journey, always exploring new concepts and developing innovative techniques and often pushes the boundaries of acrylic paints and the many mediums she uses with them. More recently she started to explore the wondrous effects of resin, with its glass-like finishes and has also extended her artworks into the mixed media arena. With a line of galvanised steel and resin wall hangings, these delightful pieces are all uniquely different, and a great extension to Jo’s art.
