The Tauranga Military Collection

The Tauranga Military Collection opened up on Labour weekend. The former Tauwhare Military Museum sits alongside Classic Flyers Museum, and entry is free with admission to Classic Flyers. The collection grew from a private collection, and includes war vehicles, clothing and more.

Sunfish Charters has just launched in the region with its vessel Sunfish 1. The 12m sports fisher is purpose built for blue water fishing and has a big 110 ft2 cockpit. She carries brand new top of the range equipment to suit any fishing experience. There’s no hire rate for the equipment – it’s included in the charter cost.

Choose from full day or extended charters that can cater for up to 18 passengers in enclosed waters, or 12 passengers inshore. Sunfish 1 is also ideal for corporate functions or general sightseeing trips.

Tauranga Art Gallery
To open October 2007

The new Tauranga Art Gallery will open its doors to the public on Saturday 20 October. The gallery will present exhibitions of historic, modern and contemporary art, and will be open from 10am to 4.30pm daily (closed Christmas Day).

The Tauranga Art Gallery features 700 square metres of exhibition space spread over two levels. The building will meet modern art gallery standards and a range of highly adaptable gallery spaces have been developed. The foyer has been designed for openings, powhiri, gatherings and presentations and will be hired out for after-hours functions and events.
